An ugly reality of an emotionless generation.

Updated: Jan 15, 2021
As a girl who tends to feel too much about everything, it scares me sometimes how emotionless Vietnamese youths are getting these days.
Emotionless originates from many different factors, but it will always start from the lack of empathy in one’s soul in my opinion. We were all born with a distinct mindset and personalities – some can be too emotional just like me, while others can be more logical and tough. But initially, it was not an alarming issue to be born and feel less about everything. Only when the negativity of the modern world added into it some more trust issue, more criticism towards everything, more cruelness, that’s when such a normal personal trait is transformed into emotionless, a soul disease.
The hustle and bustle modern world makes people, especially the youths, become unconcerned about the misery around them. Everyone is busy living their own life to fulfill different missions and standards that the society had indeliberately given to them, so they start losing their connections with other people and become apathetic to others’ problems and unfortunates. I remember that time when I came across a woman who got into a motorbike accident. She laid there on the ground searching for help, but countless people just walk through as if they did not see her presence. What hurt me the most was to think about how this situation had both shown the emotionlessness of the crowd, and the potential factor which may turn that exact pitty woman into being emotionless in the future, since she had lost her trust in life. From this point, it is also threatening to think about how emotionless can be seen as an affected disease.
There is no other effective way to ‘cure’ this mental illness than starting from the core of it – the soul. The young generation should never stop nourishing their soul to be more delicate and sympathetic towards everything, by starting to care and cherish the little everyday things. They should also focus more on the positive aspect of life more rather than being affected by all this neglectfulness and negativity, because life is so much more beautiful than that.
